In a bold move to protect their environment, the youth of Dormaa Ahenkro have arrested over 10 illegal miners (galamseyers) engaged in unlawful mining activities.

This action, supported by the Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr. Agyemang Badu, comes as part of the community’s effort to curb illegal mining, which poses a threat to their lands and water bodies.

Dormaahene has strongly condemned the act, reiterating his zero-tolerance stance on galamsey.

He emphasized that he will not permit any form of illegal mining within his community, urging residents to prioritize sustainable and lawful practices for development.

The arrested miners have been handed over to the authorities for further action.

This decisive action by the youth, backed by the Dormaahene, sends a strong message against illegal mining and demonstrates the community’s commitment to preserving their environment.
