Josh Duhamel Age Gap: Rare Comments on Wife Audra Mari

Josh Duhamel has spoken openly about the 21-year age gap between him and his wife, Audra Mari, joking that he is "officially too old" for her.

The 53-year-old actor made the comments on Monday's episode of "The HoneyDew with Ryan Sickler" podcast. He explained that the age difference only really hit him when he looked at an old family photo.

Duhamel said the picture showed him at 21, holding his infant sister, Cassidy. He then realised his sister and his wife are almost exactly the same age.

"I looked at the photo and I looked at my wife and I said, 'You and Cassidy are exactly the same age,'" Duhamel said with a laugh.

"I am officially too old for you," he quipped.

The "Transformers" actor said Cassidy was born while he was playing football at Minot State University. He recalled spotting his mother in the stands.

"I remember looking up at the stands and I saw my mom and had this bump," he said. "And I'm like, 'Is my mom pregnant?' I'm 21 years old and she's having another baby."

Duhamel pointed out that Mari and Cassidy are "literally like months apart in age."

"I never looked at it like that until I saw that photo," he said. "I was like, 'Wait a second.'"

He also asked Sickler whether the age gap was "a highlight or a lowlight" for him.

"Might be a highlight for you, and a lowlight for her," Sickler replied.

Duhamel and Mari, a former beauty pageant queen, married in 2022 after about three years of dating. Mari is 32.

The couple have two children together. Their son, Shepherd, was born in January 2024, and their daughter, Rocca, was born in April.

Duhamel has spoken about the start of their relationship before. During a May 2025 interview on the "Not Skinny But Not Fat" podcast, he said things were "platonic" at first because of the age gap.

He said he decided to pursue Mari romantically once he realised she was "more mature" than him.

"And that's really how we started dating and it's been a beautiful thing," he shared.

The actor also has a third child, 12-year-old son Axl Jack, from his previous marriage to Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie. The couple were married from 2009 to 2019, and their son was born in 2013.

In a 2023 interview, Duhamel spoke about co-parenting with his ex-wife.

"We both have the same priority and that's raising a good son," Duhamel told Entertainment Tonight at the time.
