McBrown Claims Asante Kotoko Management Doesn't Involve Her in Supporters' Mobilization
Ghanaian actress and TV Show Host Nana Ama McBrown has expressed her frustration with the management of Asante Kotoko SC, a Kumasi-based football club. She believes the management has not taken full advantage of her influence as a brand ambassador for Hisense Ghana, a partner of the club.
Asante Kotoko's Missed Opportunity
According to McBrown, her willingness to contribute to the club goes beyond her role as a brand ambassador. However, she feels that the partnership has not involved the brand as much as it could. "As a brand ambassador for Hisense Ghana, we already support Kotoko, but they haven't involved us a lot," she said on Luv Fm's DriveTime show.
McBrown emphasized that she thinks the management has not involved her enough, even though she is a well-known supporter of the club. "If an individual of the team calls me, I won't take it seriously, but if the management is calling me, I will be here and I will be ready to do something for the club," she added.
The Importance of Community Engagement
McBrown believes that Asante Kotoko should adopt a broader approach by bringing together prominent personalities and influential figures within the Ashanti Region to help promote and mobilize support for the club. She urged the management to create a platform that allows personalities in the region to contribute their influence toward the growth of the club.
McBrown emphasized that the relationship between Asante Kotoko and the people of Kumasi and the wider Ashanti Region is deeply rooted in identity and belonging. "Kumasi is us, Kotoko is for us, and Kotoko is for us to serve, so we are waiting for that call," she said.
A Call to Action
McBrown's comments come at a time when clubs are desperately in need of publicity to mobilize supporters ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League, which starts on Saturday, September 5, 2026. With her influence and the partnership with Hisense Ghana, McBrown believes that Asante Kotoko can greatly benefit from the involvement of influential personalities across the Ashanti Region if the club's management takes the initiative to engage them directly.
However, it remains to be seen whether the management will take McBrown's advice and create a platform for community engagement. As the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League approaches, Asante Kotoko's management will need to decide whether to involve McBrown and other influential personalities in their supporters' mobilization efforts.
