NSMQ 2026: Wesley Grammar escapes Kofi Agyei’s grasp in nail-biting battle to book one-eighth spot

Wesley Grammar School secured a one-eighth spot in the 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) after edging Kofi Agyei Senior High Technical School in a tightly contested preliminary stage battle. The contest took place between the three schools, with Wesley Grammar ultimately finishing with 46 points, just five points ahead of Kofi Agyei SHTS, who ended on 41 points.

Preliminary Stage Thriller

Wesley Grammar School booked their place in the next stage of the NSMQ after a closely contested battle against Kofi Agyei SHTS and Yilo Krobo SHS. The contest began with all three schools showing early promise, but Wesley Grammar and Kofi Agyei quickly emerged as the leading contenders.

In Round One, Wesley Grammar took an early lead with 20 points, while Kofi Agyei SHTS followed closely with 19 points. Yilo Krobo SHS had 14 points, a gap that widened slightly in Round Two as Wesley Grammar extended its lead to 30 points, with Kofi Agyei SHTS still within touching distance on 22 points.

True or False Round Pushes Wesley Grammar Ahead

The Problem of the Day in Round Three proved a difficult hurdle for all three schools, with each team managing just three points. Wesley Grammar nevertheless maintained the advantage with 33 points, followed by Kofi Agyei SHTS on 25 points and Yilo Krobo SHS on 17 points. The True or False round saw Wesley Grammar push further ahead, reaching 43 points, with Kofi Agyei SHTS remaining in contention on 35 points and Yilo Krobo moving to 24 points.

Tense Finish in the Riddle Round

The final Riddle Round provided another tense finish, with Yilo Krobo SHS opening the round by answering the first riddle correctly. Kofi Agyei SHTS claimed the second, Wesley Grammar took the third, before Kofi Agyei answered the final riddle. Despite the late push from Kofi Agyei, Wesley Grammar held on to finish on 46 points, securing victory and progression to the next stage.

The Road Ahead for Kofi Agyei SHTS

Kofi Agyei SHTS ended the contest on 41 points, while Yilo Krobo SHS finished with 27 points. The result sees Wesley Grammar School through to the One-Eighth Stage, while Kofi Agyei SHTS will have to wait for the next route to continue their NSMQ campaign.
