Kantanka Automobile has gifted two of its locally manufactured Aboboyaa tricycles, popularly known as the Boafo, to Ghanaian sanitation volunteer group Buzstop Boys. The donation is expected to boost the group's efforts in transforming waste management across the country.
The partnership was announced on Instagram on July 10, 2026, by Buzstop Boys, who described the donation as an "incredible gesture" that would strengthen their environmental sanitation efforts. The group teased that the full story behind the collaboration, including the official presentation ceremony, would be shared soon. In a statement, Buzstop Boys expressed gratitude to Kantanka Automobile, saying, "Thank you, Kantanka Automobile, for believing in our vision and supporting community-driven change."
Kantanka Automobile, founded by the late Ghanaian industrialist Apostle Kwadwo Safo, has positioned itself as Ghana's answer to global vehicle manufacturers. The company produces locally assembled cars and commercial vehicles designed to meet African road conditions and economic realities. The Boafo tricycle, which Kantanka introduced in recent months, is purpose-built for commercial hauling and is priced at GH¢55,000. It comes with a maximum load capacity of 1,500kg and a hydraulic-controlled tipping cargo bed, making it well-suited for the kind of heavy-duty sanitation and waste collection work that Buzstop Boys carry out on the ground.
Buzstop Boys, a volunteer-led cleanup campaign, has earned widespread admiration for their efforts in transforming waste management across Accra and beyond. The group has taken on sanitation challenges that many feel the state has been slow to address. Buzstop Boys' founder, Heneba Kwadwo Safo, reportedly survived a serious accident while travelling from Nkawkaw to Accra on June 18, 2026. However, the group has continued to work towards their goal of improving sanitation in Ghana.
The donation of the Aboboyaa tricycles is expected to have a significant impact on Buzstop Boys' operations. The vehicles will enable the group to collect and dispose of waste more efficiently, contributing to a cleaner and healthier environment for Ghanaians. The partnership between Kantanka Automobile and Buzstop Boys is a testament to the company's commitment to supporting community-driven initiatives. As Buzstop Boys continue their mission to transform waste management in Ghana, the support from Kantanka Automobile will undoubtedly play a crucial role in their efforts.
