Power Cuts Loom: ECG Warns of Temporary Outages in Tema, Ashanti
Residents in several communities across the Tema and Ashanti regions can expect temporary power outages in the coming days as the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) embarks on emergency and planned maintenance exercises. The outages are scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 22, Tuesday, August 25, and Wednesday, August 26.
Emergency Maintenance in Tema
On Saturday, August 22, ECG will undertake emergency maintenance works in the Tema Region, resulting in a temporary power interruption from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. A large number of communities and surrounding areas are expected to be affected by the exercise, including Sege, Koluador, Hwakpo, Mataheko, Kasseh, Aqua Safari, Tamatiku, Bedeku, Big Ada, Treasure Island, Ada Foah, SontsoKpa, Ocanseykope, Pute, Totope, Akplabanya, Anyamam, Goe, Kablevu, Nakumkoo, Bonikpe, Segese, Macdan, Luta, Kpeyibo, Agotor, Shilo, Somme (Old and New), Ningo, 12 Coconut Point, Commeci Beach, Dormanya, Kpotsum, Ninsec, Kporhe, Ahwiam, Kporkpo, Mangotsonaya, Ayetepa, Lekpogunor, and Wekumagbe.
Planned Maintenance in Ashanti
ECG has also announced planned maintenance works in parts of the Ashanti Region. One of the exercises is scheduled for Wednesday, August 26, between 9:00am and 5:00pm, affecting communities such as Abankeseso, Dwakeseimu, St Peter's School, Low Cost, Dodge City, Mfuom, Power Line, Bebianinha, Asikuma, Achiase, Nsuaem 1 and 2, Oponso, Denyase, Mbrayiem, and Esase, as well as surrounding areas.
Another maintenance exercise has been scheduled for Tuesday, August 25, also from 9:00am to 5:00pm. This exercise affects two groups of areas: Domeabra, Appiadu Kokoben, and Donyina, together with surrounding communities, and Gausu, Bidiem, Bogobri, Nana Ponko(h), Binsere, New Baakoyeden, Kyekyewere, Court Area, Amamom, Adaase, Akatakyeso, Nyameso, Nhyiaeso, Tweapiase, Hia, Numberso, Fehiakobo, Sukulmu, and Domiabra, as well as surrounding areas.
Residents Prepare for Outages
Residents and businesses in the affected communities are advised to prepare for the possibility of extended daytime outages lasting up to eight hours. The ECG has identified the necessary areas for the maintenance exercises, and the company has assured that the work will improve electricity service delivery and maintain the reliability of its distribution network.
