Chef Dominic “Dom” Taylor, the winner of Netflix’s Five Star Chef, has died. He was 44.
His London restaurant, The Good Front Room, confirmed the news in a statement posted on its Instagram and website.
“We are deeply saddened to share the news of the sudden passing of our founder, Chef Dom Taylor,” the statement said.
The restaurant described Taylor as a visionary whose approach to Caribbean cuisine brought a fresh voice to London’s restaurant scene.
“His passion, talent, and generosity touched so many people, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him and experiencing his food,” the statement added.
A cause of death has not been made public.
Taylor rose to wider attention through Five Star Chef, a Netflix competition series. In its first season, he was one of seven professional chefs competing to win an exclusive restaurant inside London’s five-star Langham hotel.
The British chef impressed the judges and took the win with a concept that brought Caribbean cooking and traditions into fine dining.

After winning the show in 2023, Taylor was given a six-month residency at The Langham. It proved successful enough to earn an extension.
That run eventually led him to open a standalone location for The Good Front Room in February 2026.
The restaurant celebrated the Caribbean cuisine Taylor grew up with, an approach that set his cooking apart on the show and in the years that followed.
Tributes have come from those who worked with him on the series. Pastry chef and Five Star Kitchen judge Ravneet Gill shared a message on Instagram.
“I’m incredibly saddened to hear the news about dear Chef Dom Taylor,” Gill wrote. “He was instantly captivating from the moment he stepped in front of us.”
The Good Front Room said it will remain open to honour Taylor’s legacy and his work.
