Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi has debunked Jamie Vardy’s claim that he and fellow Nigerian Kelechi Iheanacho relied on “juju cream” to speed up injury recovery during their years together at Leicester City.

Wilfred Ndidi, the Besiktas midfielder, addressed the viral comments in a video shared on his Instagram page on Monday. Vardy had suggested the Nigerian pair regularly returned from brief trips home carrying a special cream they claimed came from a “witch doctor.” In a humorous response, Ndidi said, “Its ori (natural shea butter), and anytime we came back, he would ask, and wed say, Oh! Its from a witch doctor in Nigeria.” The pair were allegedly teasing their teammates about the cream, with Ndidi stating, “And when we said, Lets use it on you, he always said no, even when we told him he would score more goals.”

Ndidi and Iheanacho played alongside Vardy at Leicester City from 2017 to 2024, winning the FA Cup and Community Shield during their successful spell with the Foxes. The Nigerian pair’s alleged use of “juju cream” became a topic of discussion on Vardy’s podcast, “Jamie Vardys Having a Party.” Vardy claimed that the cream was a key factor in the pair’s quick recovery from injuries. However, Ndidi has now clarified that the mysterious ointment was actually natural shea butter.

It is not clear what sparked Vardy’s claim about the “juju cream.” However, it is evident that the comment was made in a lighthearted manner, with Vardy likely trying to poke fun at the Nigerian pair’s cultural practices. The clarification from Ndidi has likely put an end to the speculation surrounding the “juju cream.”
