Two people have been killed and dozens injured after a tragic accident near Aseseeso in the Eastern Region.
62 students and an unspecified number of adults were in the bus which was carrying the children, students of Ben Konadu SDA Basic School in Asante Akyem to Akosombo for an excursion.
According to reports, the driver of the bus lost control of his vehicle while descending a hill near Aseseeso between Adukroma and Somanya.
The car reportedly somersaulted multiple times and landed on its side. Dozens of people inside the bus sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Tragically, two people suffered fatal injuries. Citinewsroom identified the deceased as a 65-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl. Meanwhile, over 30 students are currently receiving treatments for varying degrees of injuries at the Yilo Krobo Municipal Hospital. Officials indicate they are mostly in stable condition.
The accident follows a recent report of another tragic crash that killed three following a collision between a KIA Rhino and a Daewoo Matiz taxi at Nkonsia on the Techiman-Wenchi highway. The KIA truck, carrying cashew nuts, ended up completely tearing apart the smaller taxi following the collision, leaving two males dead on the spot.
A female victim was transferred to the hospital but was also pronounced dead.
