A Nigerian Catholic priest, Fr. Angelo Chidi Unegbu, has said that the concept of a ‘spiritual spouse’ is a fairy tale.
Taking a dig at those who believe that they have a marriage-like relationship with a supernatural entity, the priest said that if a woman wants to get rid of her spiritual husband, she should bill him and he will break up with her.
“If you are a woman and you want to get rid of your spiritual husband, just tell him that you need money for attachment, that your gas has finished, that your mother just swallowed a shovel, he will break up with you immediately. Men, whether in spirit or flesh, hāte too much billing. Men are the same everywhere. Try this and thank me later,” he wrote.
He also berated Catholic faithfuls who believe in spiritual marriage.
“You are baptized. You receive communion from time to time. Yet you believe that you have a spiritual husband or wife which the sacraments cannot deal with, where is your faith?,” he added.
