Some angry residents and eyewitnesses reportedly booed and lambasted personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service Personnel after they allegedly arrived at the scene of a devastating fire outbreak with a faulty pumping machine.
According to reports from the scene, the fire ravaged a mechanic workshop and destroyed several vehicles at Abossey Okai in Accra.
Eyewitnesses claimed the firefighters spent hours attempting to fix the faulty machine before they could begin battling the flames, a situation that reportedly allowed the fire to spread further through the area.
Videos circulating online captured emotional residents expressing frustration and disappointment as thick smoke engulfed parts of the workshop.
Many people at the scene reportedly accused the fire service personnel of responding late and being ill-equipped to handle the emergency.
The incident has since sparked conversations on social media, with several Ghanaians questioning the state of firefighting equipment and emergency response systems in the country.
Others also sympathized with the firefighters, arguing that poor logistics and outdated equipment continue to affect the work of emergency responders.
Although the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, several vehicles and properties are feared to have been destroyed in the outbreak.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the incident.
