Ashanti Region Voters Flee to NPP Amid ‘Arrogance of Power’ Claims

Paul Adom-Otchere, a prominent journalist, has claimed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is gaining strength in the Ashanti Region due to growing dissatisfaction with the current administration. Adom-Otchere accused some government officials in the Ashanti Region, including Regional Ministers and Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), of exercising excessive authority. He said Regional Ministers behave like military commanders in the region, which is "irking them, it's annoying them, and they are wondering, 'What is this?'".

The journalist also criticised the demolition of existing structures for projects associated with the government's 24-hour economy policy. He questioned the need for new markets when Ghana already has established trading centres, citing Asafo, Adum, Kejetia and Makola.
