Inspector Ahmed Twumasi, the Ghanaian police officer accused of shooting and killing his sidechick, Victoria Dapaah aka Maadwoa, has denied being involved in her death in any way.

During his most recent court date on Monday, March 10, 2025, Inspector Twumasi declared himself innocent of all charges and said he does not know anything about Maadwoa’s death.

Twumasi, who is a Ghana Police officer affiliated with the Ashanti Regional Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit, on assignment as a bodyguard at Manhyia Palace, claims that he heard about Maadwoa’s death the same as everyone else and was not involved.

Maadwoa

Under cross-examination from the prosecuting attorney, Twumasi denied having any affair with Maadwoa as widely reported in the media.

According to him, Maadwoa was only his friend, and they never had any romantic relationship.

Quizzed about a statement he made to the police in which he admitted to some incriminating actions, he denied having any knowledge of the statement.

Twumasi also denied that following Maadwoa’s death, he went on the run and had to be hunted down by police. According to him, he never ran away and was not even arrested but simply turned himself in after he heard he was being considered as the main suspect.

The trial of Inspector Twumasi for allegedly killing Maadwoa has been adjourned.

Victoria Dapaah, a 26-year-old mother of one from Kumasi, was shot and killed on April 20, 2023.
