In an open interview with American radio DJ Ebro Darden on Hot 97, Jamaican dancehall legend Vybz Kartel declares that he is done whitening his skin forever.
The world boss reexamined some of his most intimate professional choices, such as his prior bleaching experience.
Kartel claims that the choice wasn’t as simple as it initially appeared.
“I mean, in hindsight, it had to do with self-love,” he admitted. “But on the other hand, while I was doing it, my mind wasn’t telling me that. My mind was telling me, ‘I am doing this to show my tattoos’… I got a lot of tattoos. But looking back, it was just that as a Black man, sometimes we have those issues. But I would never bleach again, though,” he stated.
