Sections of Ghanaians are upset that Shatta Wale was named Artist of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards UK.
Many people find it difficult to understand how he defeated Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, and Black Sherif to win this prized accolade.
People are voicing their displeasure not only with the choice of Shatta Wale’s, but also with the criteria used by the organisers to bestow him with this honour.
Some congratulated Shatta while some speculates that the award was just handed to the singer out of sympathy by the event organisers and do not think he deserved to win in that category.
Additionally, some are drawing comparisons between Shatta Wale’s award and Black Sherif’s recent BET award, suggesting that the dancehall star should not have triumphed over Black Sherif based on year under review.
