In an updated statement of claim submitted to the court on May 17, 2023, Kojo Forex accused Bongo Ideas of defamation. GH₵1,000,000 in damages was the amount he claimed in his lawsuit.
On January 28, 2025, Accra High Court, Jurisdiction 2, Justice Forson Agyapong BaBaah, issued a decision following an assessment of the facts.
The court granted Kojo Forex GH₵100,000 in general damages and GH₵50,000 in compensatory, exemplary, and aggravated damages.
Additionally, GH₵20,000 in legal fees was ordered to be paid by the defendant. The court gave the plaintiff further relief in addition to the monetary damages.
Within 21 days following the ruling, Bongo Ideas was required to issue a public apology for the defamatory remarks and take them off from his Twitter feed.
The court also imposed a permanent injunction prohibiting Bongo Ideas from posting or making disparaging remarks on Kojo Forex.
Bongo Ideas, who has frequently been contentious on social media, has suffered a serious legal blow with this decision.
