In a video sighted by Nsemwokrom.com, shared by social media personality Gyidifo Landlord, showed the gigantic mansion in a state of neglect, with thick bush surrounding the compound and visible signs of neglect on the walls. The visit came nearly a year after Dr Omane Boamah’s passing in a military helicopter crash on August 6, 2025.

Late Dr Omane Boamah

Dr Omane Boamah was a prominent political figure, serving as the Defence Minister under President John Dramani Mahama.

He was survived by his mother, Madam Leticia Asante, his wife Rita Omane Boamah, and their three children, Yaw, Akua, and Ama. The video has prompted an outpouring of emotion online, with many Ghanaians expressing sadness at the sight of the once-grand property now swallowed by vegetation.

The late Defence Minister’s son, Yaw Omane Boamah, has been making headlines in recent times, achieving a major milestone by being selected to represent Ghana at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair in the US. However, the current state of his father’s mansion has left many wondering about the property’s fate and the responsibility of those left behind to maintain it.

Below are some comments from Ghanaians

Biggg BB🇬🇭❤️:

And he was the only child of his mom. 😭💔

yesuba:

I don’t think his family knows about it.

SKAK’S:

Please, Dr. was a Defense Minister and not Communion Minister, so please rectify that. Thank you.

NewTech Media:

Bro, be careful. Some of your commentary could get you into trouble. Listen to yourself well and you will notice. Fear and panic are not the way of the Creator, whatever the reason, whether for us to do good or bad. By your commentary, you implied that whoever is also on a bad path, including Dr., was a bad man and used his wealth for the wrong reasons. This is bad. You can teach people to do good without referring to him.

Appiah Ransford:

I don’t think the next of kin is aware of this house. 🏠🤔

The controversy surrounding the alleged abandoned mansion of Dr Omane Boamah serves as a reminder of the responsibilities that come with wealth and power. As Ghanaians, we must ask ourselves what we can do to prevent such situations from arising in the future.
