Some Ghanaians on X, formerly Twitter, have reacted to a video showing popular dancer and social media personality Agadoo Waakye performing at the funeral for Nokobioo.
In the video sighted by Ghanaian blogger King Bygone, Agadoo is seen entertaining mourners at the funeral grounds while guests gathered around to watch and record the moment on their phones.
The footage has since generated conversations online, with many social media users expressing surprise at seeing the fast-rising dancer performing at a funeral.
“Eeeii entii, Agadoo paa niee,” one user wrote after watching the video.
Others, however, defended the dancer, stating that performances at funerals have become common in recent years, especially when families choose to celebrate the life of a loved one through music and entertainment.
Agadoo Waakye first gained massive popularity on TikTok for his unique, highly expressive facial gestures and high-energy dance moves. As his independent videos began flooding Ghanaian social media timelines, the twin music duo DopeNation recognized his explosive organic momentum.
DopeNation tapped into Agadoo’s viral buzz and reached out to co-create a dance-ready track. The “Ghanapiano” Blueprint: They brought him into their studio to fuse his signature “Asa Bone” and “Zormizor” catchphrases into their upbeat electronic music style.
In the beginning, the partnership appeared highly mutually beneficial. As a gesture of goodwill during the initial recording and promotional phases, DopeNation heavily supported Agadoo online, brought him on stage for high-profile performances like University Pent Hall Week, and reportedly bought him an iPhone 13 to help him shoot higher-quality content.
The relationship between the viral Ghanaian dancer Agadoo Waakye and the twin music duo DopeNation fell apart due to allegations of financial exploitation and abandonment following the massive success of their collaborative hit single.
