FIFA has honoured 23-year-old Ghanaian medical doctor Nana Kwasi Ampofo for his volunteer work in Kansas City during the World Cup.
The young doctor, who was part of a team of medical professionals at the event, was commended by FIFA for his dedication to providing medical care to fans and participants alike.
In a video sighted by nsemwokrom.com, Nana Kwasi Ampofo said, “My name is Nana Kwesi Ampomah Opusu-Ansah. I’m 23 years old and I’m from Techiman, which is a city in Ghana, West Africa. I’m very proud of my profession. I’m an interested in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine. And I applied to be a FIFA World Cup 2026 volunteer. Because I wanted to join the organization, the planning for this program.”
It is worth noting that Nana Kwasi Ampofo’s journey to becoming a FIFA World Cup volunteer began long before he applied for the role. He has been passionate about football since his childhood. “I used to play football for fun when I was in middle school,” he said.
“I played for my high school team, and then I also used to watch the World Cup a lot, especially Ghanaian matches.” His love for the sport was sparked by a memorable match between Ghana and Uruguay in 2010.
Nana Kwasi Ampofo’s passion for sports medicine also played a significant role in his decision to apply for the volunteer position. He explained, “I also have a passion for sports medicine. And so because of that, I’m always actively watching football learning about the sports.
This is what led me to apply to be a volunteer at the FIFA World Cup 2026.” Nana Kwasi Ampofo’s dedication to his profession and his love for football have not gone unnoticed.
His efforts have earned him recognition from FIFA, and he is now being celebrated for his volunteer work.
Nana Kwasi Ampofo’s experience as a FIFA World Cup volunteer has been a valuable learning experience for him. He has been able to gain hands-on experience in the sports industry, working alongside experienced professionals and learning from their expertise
. “I’ve been able to learn a lot from the other volunteers and staff,” he said. “I’ve gained a lot of experience and knowledge that I wouldn’t have gotten otherwise.” Nana Kwasi Ampofo’s experience at the FIFA World Cup has also given him the opportunity to network with people from all over the world, making connections that will benefit him in his future career.
