General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Kwetey, has encouraged new and old supporters of the party to register or update their membership ahead of its internal elections.
The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has begun a re-registration exercise for its members as part of preparations toward its upcoming internal elections.
Speaking on the matter, NDC General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey explained that the decision is aimed at strengthening the party’s internal democratic processes and ensuring that the elections are conducted in a fair and transparent manner.
According to him, the re-registration is necessary because the party’s membership list must be properly updated to reflect current and active members across the country. He noted that over time, party registers can become outdated due to factors such as relocation, inactive participation, duplication of names, and even the inclusion of individuals who may not be legitimate members.
Fifi Kwetey stated that the re-registration will help the party clean up its database and ensure that only qualified and duly recognized members are allowed to participate in the internal voting process.
He further indicated that the exercise is part of the NDC’s broader effort to build unity and credibility within its structures, especially as the party positions itself for future national responsibilities and political activities.
The General Secretary emphasized that a credible internal election process begins with an accurate register, adding that the party wants to avoid disputes and confusion that often arise when membership records are not properly verified.
With the re-registration process underway, the NDC is expected to roll out the exercise across constituencies nationwide, encouraging all party supporters to take part to secure their eligibility ahead of the internal elections.
The move has been described as a key step toward improving organization and transparency within the party’s leadership selection process.
