Chaos at Virginia State University: Five Shot, Multiple Suspects at La

A shooting incident at Virginia State University (VSU) in the early hours of Saturday has left five people injured, with one critically. Multiple suspects are still at large after the incident, which involved more than one shooter.

Multiple Shooters on the Loose

Local police told the BBC that they believe more than one shooter was involved in the incident, but no arrests have been made. A temporary lockdown on the campus has since been lifted, but a "significant" law enforcement presence remains on site.

The Investigation Continues

Lt James R Lamb of Chesterfield County Police Department told the BBC that one of the victims was a student and another was under 18. The student victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and has since been discharged from hospital. The other four victims were also taken to local hospitals, with their injuries deemed not life-threatening.

Lamb stated that investigators were still reviewing surveillance video and were not currently treating any of the five people who were injured as suspects. He added that the suspects were still at large, with no one in custody.

Virginia State University is one of the country's historically black colleges and universities, established to provide higher education to disenfranchised African Americans. The university has about 5,000 students and is located just over 20 miles (32km) south of Richmond, the state capital of Virginia.
