Theo Burrell, the charismatic star of the popular reality TV show "Antiques Roadshow," has passed away at the age of 39 after a four-year battle with brain cancer.

Burrell's family made the devastating announcement on her Instagram page, revealing that she had died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Wednesday afternoon.

Burrell was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, in June 2022, with doctors initially giving her a prognosis of 12 to 18 months left to live. Despite this grim outlook, Burrell refused to give up, undergoing brain surgery and 17 rounds of chemotherapy over the course of four years. The cancer community provided her with comfort, strength, and hope, and Burrell dedicated her time and voice to causes that supported cancer research and awareness.

Burrell's remarkable story began when she started as a specialist on "Antiques Roadshow" in 2018. Prior to her TV career, she worked as a ceramics and glass expert with Lyon & Turnbull auctioneers in Edinburgh since 2011. Burrell's dedication to her craft and her passion for sharing her knowledge with others made her a beloved figure on the show. Her fight with cancer only strengthened her resolve, and she continued to inspire others with her courage and resilience.

In May, Burrell partnered with the Department of Health and Social Care to campaign for greater funding devoted to cancer research. In a video, she spoke candidly about her own experiences with the disease, saying, "I am running out of treatment options and I will lose my life to this cancer. There's absolutely no doubt about it." Despite her own mortality, Burrell remained determined to make a difference, saying, "Things may be too late for me, but I definitely can make peace with that if I know that the situation's gonna be better for future patients."

Burrell's family has paid tribute to her as an "incredible person who fought hard for her family, friends, and raising awareness of this cruel disease." They have also honored her memory by sharing a photo of her holding her dog, Pip, alongside a message that reads, "The cancer community provided so much comfort and strength to her in her darkest moments. But most of all it provided hope and I think what she would want most of all is for other people to find hope in her story. Hope that the statistics aren’t gospel and that one day they’ll be very different." As fans and supporters around the world mourn the loss of this remarkable individual, they will remember her courage, her compassion, and her unwavering commitment to making a difference.
