Kumasi based Ghanaian rapper Oseikrom Sikanii, has voiced his frustration with the organizers of the Ridge Condos event for what he perceives as a deliberate snub of local talent.
The rapper expressed his discontent over the decision to fly in celebrities and musicians from Accra to perform at the event in Kumasi, while overlooking the city’s own musicians and influencers.Oseikrom Sikanii, known for his energetic performances and strong connection with the Kumasi music community, did not hold back in sharing his thoughts.
According to the rapper, it’s disheartening to see event organizers bring in artists from Accra, ignoring the wealth of talent that exists within Kumasi.
He emphasized that Kumasi musicians, including himself, are often the ones who support venues like Ridge Condos throughout the year, yet they are not given the opportunity to showcase their talent during major events.
“Whenever the celebrities or rappers in Kumasi get money, they come to Ridge Condos to spend it,” Oseikrom Sikanii pointed out. “But when it’s event time, we’re not called to perform or even grace the occasion. It’s like they don’t appreciate what we bring to the table.”
Oseikrom Sikanii emphasized that Kumasi artists often support Ridge Condos by spending their earnings there, yet they are consistently excluded from events. He pointed out that this pattern of snubbing local talent is not only disrespectful but also detrimental to the growth of the music scene in Kumasi.
