Recall that a few days before his Rhythm of Africa Concert on December 9, 2023, Sonnie Badu stated that he had suffered an accident which led to surgeries on his leg.

Following the surgery, Badu was seen performing at his Rhythms of Africa concert in Accra on December 9, 2023, despite not being fully recovered.

This led to social media speculations that his injury was a publicity stunt (settings) to draw attention to the concert which Badu firmly denied.

Badu

Fast forward to September 2024, during an interview on Onua Showtime, Badu revealed that he lost two toes on his right foot due to the incident.

“I went through depression for six months, I’m left with only three toes,” he said.

He recounted the accident, explaining that he slipped on the staircase while cleaning, causing his leg to go through a sharp metal rail, severely injuring his toes.

“I was bleeding everywhere. We drove to the hospital and I walked to the emergency. When the doctors checked, they asked where are my toes. I asked, ‘Which toes?’ I asked my team members to go check with a torchlight and they saw the toes on the floor, picked it up, placed them in an iced box and brought it to the hospital. The doctors checked and refused it,” he narrated.

Host Nana Ama McBrown confirmed the incident after Badu showed her images on the show.
