Kevin Durant shockingly ignores Lionel Messi, Argentina soccer team at Fanatics Fest

Kevin Durant had an awkward moment on stage at Friday's Fanatics Fest in New York when he walked past Lionel Messi and the entire Argentina soccer team without stopping to greet them.

The former Warriors two-time NBA Finals MVP appeared for a Q&A session alongside the Argentina squad and former Patriots great Tom Brady.

Durant came out next after Brady finished asking Messi a question.

He stepped onto the stage with a smirk, walked behind the Argentina players and took the microphone from Brady.

Durant then said hello to the other guests on the stage, including comedian Kevin Hart and Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente.

Once he had the microphone, Durant turned his attention to Argentina goalkeeper Emi Martínez.

"I got a question for [Emi Martínez] right here," Durant said, leaving Martínez pointing at himself and appearing shocked.

Durant followed up with, "Yes, you," while looking toward Martínez.

After startling him, Durant asked, "What would it mean for your country and team to win back-to-back World Cups?"

The moment quickly caught attention because Durant walked past Messi, one of the most famous athletes in the world, without acknowledging him.

The Q&A brought together players and coaches from Argentina and Spain just days before the two teams meet in the World Cup final on Sunday in New Jersey.

Argentina is trying to become the first team to win back-to-back tournaments since Brazil did it in 1958 in Sweden and again in 1962 in Chile.

Spain is chasing its first World Cup under de la Fuente, and its first title since 2010.

The event mixed sports stars from different disciplines, with Brady, Durant and Hart all sharing the stage with the footballers.

Martínez has become a well-known figure in international football for his performances in goal and his animated style on the pitch.

His reaction to Durant's question drew laughs from the crowd, with the goalkeeper visibly caught off guard by being singled out.

Durant, one of the biggest names in basketball, has often shown interest in football and other sports outside the NBA.

The exchange added a lighter moment to the buildup ahead of Sunday's final.

Both teams now turn their focus to the match in New Jersey, where Argentina and Spain will decide the title.
