Joey Barton is an English football manager and former player who played as a midfielder. He was born on 2 September 1982 in Huyton, Merseyside.
He started his professional career at Manchester City in 2002, where he spent five years and made 130 appearances.
He then moved to Newcastle United in 2007, where he played for four years and helped the club return to the Premier League after relegation. He joined Queens Park Rangers in 2011, but his time there was marred by a 12-match ban for violent conduct in the final game of the 2011-12 season.
