Ghanaian tiktoker and content creator, Asantewaa, has revealed for the first time a very delicate issue about herself – unbeknownst to the public, she has sickle cell anemia.
Asantewaa revealed that due to this condition, her parents had six children – five boys and herself the only girl – but only three survived to adulthood.
She made this revelation in a Youtube video she shared to talk about her condition and to advise her followers.
A fan asked Asantewaa about her relationship and finding out about her own genotype and she used that to educate followers about her condition.
She warned fans that under no circumstances should they marry a person who is a carrier if they’re also a carrier so they don’t bring children into the world who will suffer.
Asantewaa reveals the challenges she’s faced herself due to her condition, including blinding joint pain when she goes into crisis.
She recalled a time she was forced to write an exam in the hospital due to having a crisis and being unable to walk.
Oh, and her popular brother Kay Verli also has sickle cell.
