Ghanaian TikToker Kwame Nkrumah II Sentenced to 7 Months for Threats Against President Mahama, MPs

David Kwodow Prah Afful, popularly known online as Kwame Nkrumah II, has been sentenced to seven months in prison after admitting to charges of death threats and offensive conduct.

The Accra Circuit Court delivered the ruling after a TikTok video of Afful went viral. In the video, he threatened to kill the President, Members of Parliament, and other government officials.

Police arrested Afful on Saturday, September 13, at a hideout near Kasoa Market. According to authorities, the video also showed him threatening to attack officials and journalists with a gun or cutlass, set fire to markets, and encourage others to commit violence.

In court, Afful asked government officials for forgiveness, but the judge emphasized the seriousness of his actions.

Following his arrest, the Ghana Police Service issued a statement underscoring its commitment to protecting free speech while warning that threats and incitement to violence will not be tolerated.
