Ghanaian Man, 37, Dies From Suspected Carbon Monoxide Poisoning In Belgium

A 37-year-old Ghanaian man known to friends and family as Hudu has died after he was found unresponsive inside his tent at the Antilliaanse Feesten music festival in Hoogstraten, Belgium.

Hudu was reportedly attending the festival when he felt cold and went into his tent with a small barbecue device in an attempt to keep warm.

He was later found unresponsive inside the tent.

Emergency responders and people at the scene attempted to save him, but their efforts were unsuccessful.

The circumstances surrounding his death have since been investigated by Belgian authorities, with an autopsy pointing to carbon monoxide poisoning as the most likely cause.

According to the latest information provided by the authorities, the small barbecue device found inside Hudu’s tent supports the suspected cause of death.

Carbon monoxide is a colourless and odourless gas that can build up when fuel-burning devices are used in enclosed or poorly ventilated spaces. Exposure to high levels can cause unconsciousness and death.
