Frankie Dettori is a British-Italian jockey who was born in Milan, Italy, on December 15, 1970. His full name is Lanfranco Dettori, but he is widely known as Frankie.

He started riding horses at a young age, following in the footsteps of his father Gianfranco, who was also a champion jockey.

Frankie moved to England in 1985 and became an apprentice for trainer Luca Cumani. He rode his first winner in Britain in 1987, at the age of 16.

Since then, he has become one of the most prolific and celebrated jockeys in history, winning more than 3,300 races in Britain and over 600 Group 1 races worldwide.

He also made history in 1996 when he rode all seven winners on the card at Ascot, a feat that has never been repeated.
