Founder and leader of Heaven Nti Church, Voice of Prophet Joseph Osei, has sparked conversations online after making controversial comments about democracy and Christian participation in elections.
Speaking in an interview with Ghanaian blogger King Bygone after appearing on Accra FM on Friday, May 23, 2025, the preacher claimed that Christians are not required to vote because democracy is not from God.
According to him, no genuine man of God receives divine revelation about election results as often claimed by some prophets during election seasons.
“God doesn’t reveal the results of an election to any man of God, and as a Christian, you’re not required to use your thumb to vote, because democracy was first initiated by the devil and it’s not from God,” he stated.
His comments have since generated mixed reactions on social media, with some people agreeing with parts of his statement while others strongly disagreed with his views on democracy and voting.
Many users online argued that voting remains a civic responsibility and an important part of nation-building, regardless of one’s religious beliefs.
Others also questioned his claim that democracy originated from the devil, describing the statement as controversial.
The preacher’s remarks add to the growing list of bold statements often made by some religious leaders on politics, governance and spirituality in Ghana.
Meanwhile, the full interview is expected to attract even more public attention as discussions continue online.
