The wife of the Vice President of Ghana, Samira Bawumia has come under heavy criticism after openly campaigning for her husband and insisting he is the best man for Ghana.

For the past few weeks, the wife of Dr Bawumia has been in the news for the wrong reasons. After she openly declared war against, aspiring Presidential candidate, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, Ghanaians have been tearing into her. The expensive brands of bags she uses on a daily basis caused a stir on social media.

The compilation features high-end designer bags with one, Hermes Kelly 53 Togo Taupe handbag going as high as £9,157. Other expensive brand owned by the First Lady include, Valentino Garavani worth £1,274, an Anel bag reportedly worth $7,400, and Chanel Trendy CC going as high as £4,086.

The prices of these bags could solve the problems of at least 10 graduates in Ghana.

This has made some Ghanaians conclude that, when Dr Bawumia is voted to become the President of Ghana, he will only use the money to buy more expensive bags for his wife.

Meanwhile, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the Ghana Police Service have reached an agreement on the election modalities for the upcoming NPP presidential elections scheduled for November 4, 2023.

The party has agreed for the police service to take complete control of security during the elections.

During an engagement involving both parties, Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye, the Chairman of the Presidential Election Committee for the NPP, urged the police to deal with individuals who would engage in misconduct during the elections.

“We are authorising you to take absolute control of all the processes that you regulate during normal elections in this republic. We have made a number of guidelines which are a matter of common consent and we have worked out the dynamics in such a way that we are working together and we are saying this to assure you that the regulations that the candidates have all signed are going to be the blueprint of the process, and anyone who disregards this should be dealt with and we want to establish that this country is a lawful nation.
