Shannon Sharpe, a Fox Sports personality and former NFL tight end, was separated from Grizzlies superstar Ja Morant’s father, Tee, at halftime of a game between Memphis and the Lakers on Friday night.
Sharpe and Tee Morant were seen in the stands yelling at each other as the Grizzlies led on the scoreboard. Tee Morant and Sharpe got into a shouting match, which was broken up by security.

In the video, Grizzlies wing Dillon Brooks can be seen yelling at Sharpe as he walks back to the Grizzlies bench. Sharpe then yells back at Brooks, motioning for him to approach him. Sharpe was then approached by Grizzlies center Steven Adams, and the altercation became increasingly heated as other players joined in. Sharpe was sitting on the court.
Tee Morant then walked toward Sharpe and appeared to exchange words in the midst of the melee. Sharpe shouted and pointed in the direction of Tee Morant as he was whisked away by security, but he was also stopped by security.
“They didn’t want this smoke,” Sharpe said after the incident to ESPN. “They do all that talking and jockeying, and I’m not about the jockeying. Dillon Brooks started it all. I stated that he was too small to protect LeBron. He said ‘F-k’ to me, and I said ‘F-k’ back. He began to charge at me, and I told him, ‘You don’t want these problems.’
“Then Ja appeared out of nowhere, talking. He certainly didn’t want these issues. Then came the father, who clearly didn’t want any problems. But I was interested in everything they had. Don’t be taken in by these charlatans right now.”
Sharpe and Tee Morant spoke with security in the arena tunnels before returning to their seats as the second half began. They exchanged embraces at the end of the third quarter.
