A man has been arrested following the tragic death of a baby in a hospital.
Following reports that a baby was unwell, emergency services rushed to a home in Blaby, Leicestershire.
The baby was rushed to the hospital, where it died.
The horror occurred on Sunday, January 15, and police said at the time that the ill child had been taken to a hospital for treatment.
Cops also said they were supporting “other agencies”.
Officers announced today that the baby, whose age and gender were not disclosed, had died.
A 31-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing/allowing serious physical harm or death to a child has been released on police bail.
A 32-year-old woman was also interviewed voluntarily under caution.
The circumstances surrounding the baby’s illness and death are being investigated.
Officers have warned the public not to speculate.
“A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing/allowing a child to suffer serious physical harm or death and has been released on police bail,” said Leicestershire Police.
“A 32-year-old woman was voluntarily interviewed under caution in connection with the incident.
“The circumstances of this incident, how the baby became unwell, and what caused the death, are under investigation and we would ask people not to speculate about what has happened.”
