Wayoosi

Joseph Nana Osei Kofi, famously known as Wayoosi, started his life in Kumasi, Ghana. Before he ever stood in front of a movie camera, he trained to be a professional painter. However, his true passion was performing, which led him to join the Mabosa dance group. His dancing skills were so good that he became a backup dancer for the famous Ghanaian musician Lord Kenya, which gave him his first taste of the limelight.

Wayoosi did not plan to be an actor, but a movie producer named Jackson Bentum saw his natural talent. He convinced Wayoosi to act, and the young star made his big debut in the popular movie Awiee. With his short stature, sharp wit, and funny facial expressions, he quickly became a fan favorite. He went on to star in dozens of films alongside Kumawood legends like Agya Koo, playing comical and mischievous characters that kept millions of people laughing.

Behind the laughs, Wayoosi’s life has included deep personal pain. He is a dedicated husband and family man who prefers to keep his private life out of the headlines. Sadly, he and his wife faced a terrible tragedy in 2017. Their six-month-old daughter, Nhyira, blessed them with joy but passed away suddenly, leaving the family heartbroken.

In 2016, Wayoosi faced a massive scare when he fell dangerously ill with a kidney disease. He later spoke honestly about his health, admitting that a heavy addiction to strong alcohol and a poor diet caused the illness. After a miraculous recovery, he completely changed his lifestyle. He now uses his story to warn the youth about the dangers of heavy drinking and to promote healthy living.

Today, Wayoosi is celebrated as a true pioneer of the Kumawood film industry who helped shape Ghanaian comedy. He has successfully moved into the digital age by creating funny videos and content for his fans online. His journey shows that with resilience, a person can overcome major life challenges and continue to bring joy to others.
