Ipswich Town sign Abdul Fatawu from Leicester City

Ipswich Town has announced the signing of 22-year-old winger Abdul Fatawu from Leicester City.

Abdul Fatawu, a Ghana international, joins Ipswich Town on a five-year contract through to the summer of 2031. The winger has already gained significant experience in the game, featuring in all four of Ghana's games at this summer's FIFA World Cup, including against England in the group stage. He has won a total of 32 caps for his country, scoring three goals.

The 22-year-old attacker has also played in the Champions League during his time with Sporting in Portugal and has been promoted to and featured in the Premier League with Leicester. He scored nine goals in 44 appearances for the Foxes during the 2025/26 season.

Abdul Fatawu expressed his excitement about joining Ipswich Town, saying, "I am proud to have signed for Ipswich Town." He added, "The ambition the club has is very exciting and I'm looking forward to being a part of that as we prepare for the Premier Town Manager Gary O'Neil said, "Abdul is a young player who has already gained good experience in the game and we're excited to have him with us."

Gary O'Neil praised Abdul Fatawu's physical and technical attributes, saying, "He has strong physical and technical attributes, is comfortable on the ball and can test the opposition in one-on-one situations, so will provide us with good options within the squad." The Town Manager also noted that Abdul Fatawu is now looking forward to getting to work ahead of the Premier League season.

Abdul Fatawu has already had experience playing against Ipswich Town during his time in England, and he is looking forward to playing for the club and showing its passionate supporters what he can do. He will join his new teammates at the Blues' Spanish training camp in La Manga this week.

With Abdul Fatawu joining the squad, Ipswich Town is strengthening its options ahead of the Premier League season.
