‘Home Alone 2’ Star Brenda Fricker Dies at 81

Brenda Fricker, the Oscar-winning Irish actress known to millions for her role in the Home Alone franchise, has died at the age of 81.

The news was announced on 17 July 2026. Her agent confirmed that she died peacefully at her home in Dublin after a period of ill health. The exact medical cause of death has not been disclosed.

Fricker was born in Dublin in 1945. She built a career across theatre, television and film over several decades.
