Shatta Wale has expressed his displeasure with Ghana’s seeming inability to recognize prosperous, talented, and successful people.
In a recent tirade, Shatta Wale called Ghana a “stupid country” and stated his desire to relocate to Nigeria, even seeking a Nigerian passport.
It’s still unknown what motivated Shatta Wale to make such bold statements.
But after hosting Nigerian influencer Peller, he received negative feedback on social media, which prompted him to make these remarks.
Many Ghanaians felt that Peller did not deserve such respect from a well-known character like Shatta Wale, and they criticized Wale for purportedly raising the reputation of someone they considered to be only a TikTok star.
Shatta Wale dismissed these charges, saying he is sick of Ghanaians’ unrelenting criticism of his behavior. He stated in an April 13, 2025, Instagram post:
Nigerians, please tell President Tinubu or your government so I can get a Nigerian passport. This is a toilet country because they don’t appreciate successful people. I want to sell my house here and buy properties in Nigeria. You people should give me a Nigerian name because Ghana is a stupid country.
If I buy a house, they will say it is not mine; even when I bought my new car, they said it’s not mine. Ghana is a stupid country, and I want to relocate.
