Ghanaian controversial preacher, Reverend Ebenezer Boakye Yiadom better known as Opambour in the media scene is reated to Financial Minister Designate, Ato Forson remarks on betting tax

Asked by his junior colleague to share his take on the financial minister-designate’s comment on betting tax, the humored man of God asked if there’s a betting company named ‘ourbet,’ which there definitely is not, so he feels since it’s ‘my bet,’ it shouldn’t be taxed.

If chosen, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the finance minister-designate, promised to eliminate the betting tax and the E-Levy in the first budget of the administration.

He maintained that both taxes impede economic development. He specifically noted that the betting tax brings in very little money, while the e-levy inhibits digital transactions and hinders the nation’s transition to a paperless economy.

“My stance on the E-levy is widely known, and I have no plans to change it. I have written articles against the e-levy, and I continue to support my viewpoint on the matter. The e-levy is not classified as an excise tax, direct tax, or indirect tax. “I demand that the betting tax be eliminated,” Ato Forson declared.
