Social media users have taken to various platforms to criticize Pastor Mensa Otabil, Founder and General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), for some of his recent sermons. In one of these sermons, Otabil challenged the widely held belief that God plays a role in selecting political leaders for nations.

With the 2024 elections approaching, numerous prophets have emerged, claiming divine insights into who has been chosen by God to lead.

Among them is Prophet Isaac Owusu Bempah of the Glorious Word and Power Chapel, who, after predicting President Akufo-Addo’s past victory, is now forecasting that John Mahama will win the upcoming elections.

However, Mensa Otabil has boldly dismissed such claims, asserting that God does not choose leaders for nations. According to him, attributing leadership selection to God is misguided, and he even suggested that believing this implies God has made numerous mistakes in leadership choices worldwide.

Otabil’s stance has sparked debates online, with some supporting his perspective, while others, particularly from religious circles, criticize his views as contradicting traditional beliefs. The controversy continues to fuel discussions ahead of the elections.
