A South African man has sparked outrage online after a video showed him proudly displaying food items allegedly looted from shops belonging to foreign nationals during recent xenophobic attacks.
In the viral footage, the man appeared excited as he showed off several stolen items believed to have been taken during violent attacks targeting foreign-owned businesses.
The video has since triggered strong reactions on social media, with many people condemning the looting and attacks against foreign nationals living in South Africa.
Others also expressed concern over the growing tension and violence linked to xenophobic incidents in some parts of the country.
Xenophobic attacks in South Africa have repeatedly made headlines over the years, often leading to destruction of properties, injuries and displacement of foreign nationals, especially African migrants operating businesses in local communities.
Several social media users called for peace and unity among Africans, stressing that violence and hatred against foreigners only worsen the situation.
Authorities are yet to officially comment on the viral video or confirm the identity of the individual involved.
