Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced a visa-free entry policy for diaspora visitors traveling to Ghana this December for the Black Star Experience.
The announcement was made today during the media launch of the Diaspora Summit 2025 in Accra.
The Black Star Experience is one of Ghana’s flagship end-of-year cultural programs.
It brings together concerts, heritage tours, exhibitions and community events designed to celebrate Ghana’s role as a hub for Pan-African connection. Thousands of visitors from the diaspora are expected to attend.
The visa-free policy is aimed at easing travel arrangements for participants while strengthening ties between Ghana and the global African community. Officials have noted that the move is part of broader efforts to promote tourism, cultural exchange and economic growth during the festive season.
Local businesses in hospitality, transport and entertainment are projected to benefit from the influx of visitors. The measure is also seen as a way to encourage repeat visits and long-term engagement with Ghana from members of the diaspora.
The waiver applies to diaspora travelers arriving in Ghana between early December and the conclusion of the Black Star Experience.
Authorities have indicated that tourism and cultural agencies are coordinating to ensure smooth arrivals and departures during the period.
