Vangelis, the Greek prog-rocker and Oscar-winning composer for films like Chariots of Fire and Blade Runner, has died at the age of 79.
The influential artist born Evángelos Papathanassíou died late Tuesday night, a statement from Vangelis’ “private office” announced to his Elsewhere fan page Thursday. The Athens News Agency also confirmed the news of Vangelis’ death.

Where will Vangelis be buried?
Vangelis moved to France, Paris in the year 1968. Vangelis has also lived in Paris and London, where he has his own studio called Nemo Studios, near London’s Marble Arch.
It’s likely that Vangelis will be buried in Paris since he lived most of his with his family and friends in Paris.
