But that hasn’t stopped him from climbing the political ladder.

David Madison Cawthorn is an American politician who has served as the U.S. representative for North Carolina’s 11th congressional district since 2021.

A member of the Republican Party, he is the first member of Congress born in the 1990s and the third-youngest in U.S. history.

At the age of 18, Madison Cawthorn was harmed in a car accident.

He went on to attain political success on a variety of levels, although his career was damaged by a series of scandals.

In fact, he claims that the wheelchair was a source of inspiration for him.

“My injury gave me new eyes to see and new ears to hear,” he stated during a talk at the Republican National Convention.

Cawthorn was injured while returning from a spring-break trip to Florida in 2014.

The accident occurred near Daytona Beach when his friend Bradley Ledford fell asleep behind the wheel of a BMQ X3 SUV.

When the SUV collided with a concrete barrier, Cawthorn was in the passenger seat, his feet on the dashboard.

Cawthorn claimed in a 2017 speech that Ledford abandoned him “to perish in a burning tomb,” but Ledford officially refuted this claim in 2021, claiming that he did extract Cawthorn from the wreckage.

Cawthorn stated in his statement that he has “no recall of the accident.”

The accident in 2014 left Cawthorn partially paralyzed from the waist down.

He has some limited use of his legs.
