Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, recently opened up about her experiences with love—or rather, the lack thereof. In an interview with “Flow with Korty,” the 28-year-old songstress revealed that she has never been in love.
Tems shared her perspective on love, stating that she believes love should be experienced consciously and deliberately rather than mindlessly. “I haven’t been in love. For me, loving someone means seeing them clearly and still wanting to be in their life, even if they annoy you sometimes. It’s a choice,” she explained.
She emphasized that infatuation is often mistaken for love. “I haven’t felt anything for anyone that I would call love. I think people often confuse infatuation with love,” she said.

Tems elaborated on her understanding of genuine love, contrasting it with the common notion of love being blind. “I would like to experience something deep and real, not blind. I don’t believe love is blind. If you truly love someone, you do so with your eyes open,” she asserted.
Reflecting on her desire for a meaningful connection, Tems added, “Love is when you’ve seen everything about a person, their flaws and all, and you still choose them. I want someone to see all of me and still say, ‘Yes, I want that.'”
The singer’s candid comments provide a fresh perspective on love and relationships, highlighting the importance of authenticity and conscious choice in forming deep connections.
