Ranan Lurie, an Israeli war hero and world peacemaker who set records as the world’s most widely syndicated political cartoonist, died on Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was 90.

Right after In The Morning, Danielle made the short impromptu documentary 81-Year-Old Sweethearts, about an 81-year-old man she randomly met on a plane who was flying across the country to re-meet his high school sweetheart after 62 years – which was featured on Youtube’s homepage due to the extremely high numbers of hits the video got.

Daphne Lurie is the second daughter of Ranan Lurie and his wife, Tamar Lurie.
Dr. Daphne Lurie is a California-licensed clinical psychologist and Director of the Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) on the Scripps Research La Jolla campus.
She was born in Israel and became a U.S. citizen at age seven. Daphne spent her high school years living in four different countries; her father worked as a political cartoonist in capital cities and she is grateful for these enriching experiences. Daphne has been at Scripps Research since 2007 and has been director of CAPS since 2010. She has enjoyed working with the Scripps Research community more than any other group.
