Michael Slater is a former Australian cricketer who was born on February 21, 1970, in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia.

He was a right-handed opening batsman and a brilliant fielder who played for Australia from 1993 to 2001.

Slater was known for his aggressive and attacking style of batting, which made him a fan favorite.

He made his debut for Australia in 1993 against the West Indies and went on to play 74 Tests and 42 One Day Internationals (ODIs) for his country.

In his Test career, Slater scored 5,312 runs with an average of 42.83 and hit 14 centuries, with his highest score being 219. In ODIs, he scored 1,428 runs with an average of 34.48, including two centuries and nine fifties.

Slater was also known for his exceptional fielding skills and was one of the best outfielders in the game during his time.

He took 124 catches in Test cricket, with a majority of them coming in the slips, and 27 catches in ODIs.

After retiring from international cricket in 2001, Slater worked as a commentator for Channel Nine in Australia and also served as a coach for various teams, including the Australian team and the Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
