Marc Garneau is a Canadian politician and former astronaut. He was born on February 23, 1949, in Quebec City, Canada.

Garneau had a distinguished career as an astronaut with the Canadian Space Agency, participating in three space missions, including two Space Shuttle flights in 1984 and 1996.

In 2001, he was appointed as the president of the Canadian Space Agency, a position he held until 2006.

Garneau entered politics in 2008, when he was elected as the Member of Parliament for the riding of Westmount—Ville-Marie in Montreal.
