Kamaru Usman is a Nigerian-American mixed martial artist who currently competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He was born on May 11, 1987, in Auchi, Nigeria and raised in Arlington, Texas, USA.

Kamaru Usman Career

Usman began his MMA career in 2012 and quickly rose through the ranks, amassing an undefeated record in regional promotions before being signed by the UFC in 2015.

He is known for his exceptional wrestling skills, powerful striking, and strong grappling abilities.

Usman made his UFC debut in 2015 and has since become one of the top fighters in the promotion’s welterweight division.

He holds a professional record of 20 wins and only one loss, with notable victories over top-ranked fighters such as Tyron Woodley, Jorge Masvidal, and Colby Covington.

Usman won the UFC welterweight championship in 2019 by defeating Tyron Woodley and has since defended his title four times, most recently defeating Covington by TKO in a highly anticipated rematch in November 2021.

He is widely considered one of the greatest welterweight fighters in MMA history and currently holds a number two ranking in the UFC’s pound-for-pound rankings.

Outside of the octagon, Usman is known for his advocacy for immigrant rights and his efforts to raise awareness of issues affecting African immigrants in the United States.

He is also a devoted family man and often speaks about the importance of his Nigerian heritage in his life and career.

Kamaru Usman’s wife is named Eleslie Dietzsch. They got married in 2010 and have been together since then.

Kamaru Usman has two brothers named Mohammed Usman and Kashetu Usman and two younger sisters.

Usman’s younger brother, Mohammed who was also in The Ultimate Fighter, in the Heavyweight division, won the UFC contract and became the first two brothers to do so.
