Denny Laine was a British singer-songwriter and musician who was a founding member of the Moody Blues and Wings.
He was best known for his collaborations with Paul McCartney, as well as his solo work.
He started playing guitar at an early age and formed his first band, Denny and the Diplomats, when he was still in school.
He joined The Moody Blues in 1964 as their lead singer and guitarist, and co-wrote their first hit, “Go Now”. He left the band in 1966 after their second album, and pursued a solo career.

Laine was born Brian Frederick Hines to parents Herbert Edward Arthur Hines and Eva Lillian Hines in the Channel Islands, and grew up in Tyseley, Birmingham, England, where he attended Yardleys Grammar School.
He took up the guitar as a boy, inspired by gypsy jazz musician Django Reinhardt.
